Public Money Backs the Knicks Tonight

The Indiana Pacers are favored to beat the New York Knicks tonight in Game 6 of their playoff series, but there is a ton of public money coming in on the Knicks. The public money is flowing in the point spread market, since Indiana opened as a 5.5-point favorite. The line has moved to 6.5, which is bringing even more public money to the Knicks.

If you’re relatively new to this, public money is that which is bet by public bettors. A public bettor is the everyday average bettor that does not bet on sports for a living. For the most part, most bettors are public bettors and they have a heavy influence on betting lines.

In this case, with more public money coming in on the side of the Knicks, it’s likely the line may shift in the other direction before it closes just before game time. What’s interesting is that there is sharp money on the Knicks here too. Sharp bettors are those who are professional sports bettors. They tend to win a bit more often than the public. That’s why it makes sense to follow the sharps instead of the public money. In this case, though, the public may be onto something.

Breaking News – Scottie Scheffler Arrested

If you didn’t know, now you do. World No. 1-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested early this morning. Read on for more details. There is more big sports news, especially the absolute spanking the Timberwolves put on the Nuggets last night.

Today’s trending news.

  • Scheffler arrested: Scheffler was on his way to the Valhalla Golf Club for today’s second round of the PGA Championship. He didn’t make it. Instead, he’s landed himself in jail. Apparently, Scheffler didn’t follow police instructions during a pedestrian fatality. Someone was hit by a vehicle and Scheffler tried to get past the accident scene. He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. The public money was on Scheffler to win the PGA.
  • TWolves force Game 7: Mike Conley played last night and that helped Minnesota record a 115-70 blowout of the Denver Nuggets. Conley had 13 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds and leading scorer Anthony Edwards tossed in 27 points for the winners. Game 7 is Sunday in Denver.
  • Rangers advance: Trailing 3-1 heading into the third period, the New York Rangers looked like they were headed to a Game 7 back in New York. Then, Chris Kreider took over. Kreider recorded a natural hat trick in the final period and the Rangers won Game 6, 5-3, in Carolina. New York advances to the Eastern Conference finals as a result.
  • Low grade Fever: The Indiana Fever took one on the chin as the New York Liberty crushed them 102-66. The loss ruined the home debut of Fever star Caitlin Clark, who ended the game with just nine points.  The public money was right on this one. New York was just better… a lot better.
